A $10.49 list price is not a $0.50 raise. On the 2026 FBA card it moves the same small-standard unit out of the under-$10 fulfillment band — $2.49 to $3.42 on a 4 oz item in our dataset — before the 3.5% fuel surcharge.

Home & Kitchen still pays 15% referral on both sides of $10. Beauty and Health & Household step from 8% to 15% at $10; Grocery steps at $15. Type $9.99 then $10.49 into the Amazon FBA Calculator — the tool reads the same file and picks the band from the price you enter.

Three fulfillment columns, one weight

Until 2026, most sellers treated FBA fulfillment as size + weight. The current US card adds a third input: selling price. Our dataset stores each size/weight cell as three numbers — low under $10, mid from $10 through $50, high above $50 — matching the calculator’s pickBand rule.

Small standard · 4 oz · base fulfillment (before 3.5% fuel)

Price band Base FBA After fuel When the calculator uses it
Under $10 $2.49 $2.58 Price strictly below $10
$10 – $50 $3.42 $3.54 $10.00 through $50.00
Over $50 $3.68 $3.81 Price above $50

Cells are amazon.ts smallStandard.upTo4oz, last verified 2026-10-01. The 3.5% multiplier is fuelSurchargeMultiplier. Apparel and DG cards are not in this file — verify those SKUs in Seller Central.

Low-Price FBA is that first column, applied automatically. There is no Small-and-Light enrollment step on the 2026 card the calculator models. A $10.00 sticker already sits in the middle column. If Seller Central’s Revenue Calculator shows a different boundary on your ASIN, trust the live assessment — verify in your seller dashboard.

SKU A: Home & Kitchen, same 4 oz unit

SKU A is a Home & Kitchen pouch: $9.99 vs $10.49, 0.25 lb (4 oz), $3.00 COGS, $0.50 inbound, 0.04 cu ft, one off-peak month of storage ($0.78/cu ft → $0.03). Referral stays 15% (minimum $0.30, not binding here). The only structural change is the fulfillment column.

Home & Kitchen 4 oz unit: $9.99 Low-Price FBA vs $10.49 mid-band Left: $9.99 keeps the $2.49 Low-Price column ($2.58 after fuel) and $2.38 profit. Right: $10.49 pays the $3.42 mid-band column ($3.54 after fuel) and $1.85 profit. 1 · $9.99 15% + $2.49 FBA after fuel $2.58 $2.38 2 · BAND JUMP $2.49 → $3.42 fuel adds $0.96 +$0.50 price 3 · $10.49 15% + $3.42 after fuel $3.54 $1.85
Home & Kitchen, 4 oz. The $0.50 sticker lift does not cover $0.96 extra fulfillment plus $0.07 extra referral — net profit falls $0.54. Scroll sideways on small screens.

SKU A · Home & Kitchen · 0.25 lb · $3.00 COGS · $0.50 inbound · 0.04 cu ft × $0.78

List price Referral (15%) FBA + fuel Storage Profit / unit Margin
$9.99 $1.50 $2.58 $0.03 $2.38 23.9%
$10.49 $1.57 $3.54 $0.03 $1.85 17.6%

Profit = price − referral − FBA − storage − inbound − COGS. Reproduce both rows in the calculator with Small Standard + 0.25 lb + Home & Kitchen.

If the category referral is flat, raise through $10 only when the extra revenue beats the band jump. On this 4 oz SKU it does not: $0.50 in, $1.04 out, profit down $0.54. A heavier large-standard cell has a different low/mid spread — do not reuse $3.42 − $2.49 on a 1.5 lb item. The 1 / 2 / 3 lb Large Standard walkthrough is Amazon FBA fees at 1 lb vs 2 lb vs 3 lb.

SKU B: Beauty, the double step

Same pouch, Beauty & Personal Care. Referral is 8% at or below $10 and 15% above — the same threshold Health & Household uses in referralPriceBreaks. Grocery’s break is $15. Crossing $10 on Beauty now changes two lines.

SKU B · Beauty & Personal Care · same weight, COGS, inbound, storage

List price Referral rate Referral $ FBA + fuel Profit / unit Margin
$9.99 8% $0.80 $2.58 $3.08 30.9%
$10.49 15% $1.57 $3.54 $1.85 17.6%

Referral jumps $0.77; fulfillment jumps $0.96. Profit falls $1.24 for a $0.50 sticker lift. The calculator applies the break from the category name, not the 15% label.

If the category has a $10 referral break, treat $10 as a cliff, not a rounding choice. On this SKU the higher sticker loses. Keep $9.99 unless a Buy Box, MAP, or ad-auction constraint forces you over the line — then re-price so leftover after the 15% rate and mid-band FBA still clears your floor. Clothing uses a different official break structure than this file models; do not reuse the Beauty math on apparel.

The $50 band is a smaller trap

The high column on the same 4 oz cell is $3.68 — $0.26 above mid before fuel ($0.27 after). Compare $49.99 to $50.01 with Home & Kitchen still at 15%.

SKU C · Home & Kitchen · same 4 oz / COGS / inbound / storage · $50 band

List price Referral FBA + fuel Profit / unit
$49.99 $7.50 $3.54 $35.42
$50.01 $7.50 $3.81 $35.17

$0.02 more price, $0.27 more fulfillment. Profit falls $0.25. The $50 step is smaller than the $10 Low-Price drop — still not free.

Peak storage is a different lever. Off-peak storage in the table is $0.78/cu ft; October–December is $2.40/cu ft. That 3× multiplier does not change the fulfillment band. Model Q4 inbound and aged-inventory timing on the Amazon Q4 2026 prep page, then come back here for the $10 / $50 sticker decision.

If A, keep $9.99 / if B, do not step to $10.49

The rule is not “it depends on your business.” It is two forks on the same 4 oz worked SKU — re-run your own size and weight in the calculator before you copy the dollars.

  • If referral is flat at 15% (Home & Kitchen and most categories in this file) — stay under $10 when the extra revenue is smaller than the fulfillment jump. On SKU A, $10.49 loses to $9.99 by $0.54 per unit. Cross $10 only after the leftover covers $0.96 extra FBA plus 15% of the price lift.
  • If the category is Beauty or Health & Household — the $10 line changes referral and fulfillment together. On SKU B, $9.99 keeps $1.24 more than $10.49. Do not “round up” through $10 to look premium unless the new sticker still clears target margin after 15% + mid-band FBA. Grocery’s referral step is $15, so a $10.49 grocery sticker still pays 8%.

Packaging and weight cuts that drop a size tier are a different savings path — that list lives on 11 ways to reduce Amazon FBA fees. This page is only the price-band toggle. How to run the number this week

  1. Open the Amazon FBA Calculator. Set Small Standard, 0.25 lb, your real COGS and inbound, and the matching category. Leave storage on January–September unless the unit will sit into Q4.
  2. Enter the current list price, then the candidate price on the other side of $10 (or $50). Write down both Net profit / unit figures. The fulfillment row should move by about $0.96 on this 4 oz Home & Kitchen pair; Beauty should also move the referral row by about $0.77.
  3. If you reprice around $10 often, watch the live Buy Box — a $10.49 win that lasts one hour and a $9.99 win that lasts a week are different P&Ls. Helium 10* is the research/repricing suite we already link from the calculator; Sellerboard* is the per-SKU settlement view. Neither changes the fee card.
  4. Confirm the $10.00 / $10.01 row in Seller Central’s Revenue Calculator before you lock a catalog-wide rule. This page follows amazon.ts (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/external/G201411300). The $10.00 cell is mid-band fulfillment here; Beauty referral at exactly $10.00 stays 8%.

Frequently asked questions

What is Low-Price FBA on the 2026 fee card?

It is the under-$10 column on the FBA fulfillment table — not a separate enrollment program. Our dataset prices a small-standard 4 oz unit at $2.49 under $10, $3.42 from $10 through $50, and $3.68 above $50, then multiplies by the 3.5% fuel surcharge ($2.58 / $3.54 / $3.81 after fuel). The Amazon FBA Calculator picks the column from the selling price you type. Apparel and dangerous-goods cards are separate — verify in Seller Central’s Revenue Calculator.

Does a $10.00 list price still get the Low-Price FBA rate?

In this dataset and calculator, no. The low band applies only when price is strictly under $10, so $10.00 already uses the $3.42 mid-band base. Beauty / Health referral is the other way around: 8% at or below $10, 15% above it — so $10.00 is mid-band fulfillment and still 8% referral. Grocery steps at $15, not $10. Amazon’s public wording (“under $10” vs “$10 or less”) can differ from a given SKU’s live assessment. Verify the $10.00 boundary in Seller Central before you lock a list price.

Why does a Beauty listing get hit harder above $10 than a Home & Kitchen listing?

Home & Kitchen referral stays 15% on both sides of $10, so you only pay the fulfillment-band jump ($2.49 → $3.42 base, $0.96 after fuel on the 4 oz example) plus 15% of the extra dollars. Beauty and Health & Household add a referral step at $10: 8% at or below, 15% above. Grocery’s referral step is at $15, so a $10.49 grocery sticker still pays 8%. On $9.99 vs $10.49 Beauty pays $0.77 more referral and $0.96 more fulfillment — $1.24 less profit on the worked SKU.

How do I reproduce the $9.99 vs $10.49 table in the calculator?

Open the Amazon FBA Calculator. Set size to Small Standard, weight to 0.25 lb (4 oz), product cost $3.00, inbound $0.50, January–September storage, 0.04 cu ft, 1 month. For Home & Kitchen leave the default category and enter $9.99, then $10.49. For Beauty switch the category — the tool applies 8% at or below $10 and 15% above. Net profit / unit should match $2.38 / $1.85 (Home & Kitchen) and $3.08 / $1.85 (Beauty).

Does the 3.5% fuel surcharge apply to Low-Price FBA units?

Yes in this dataset. The 3.5% fuel & logistics surcharge (effective 2026-04-17) multiplies every size-tier fulfillment fee, including the under-$10 column. On the 4 oz example that is $0.09 on top of $2.49, and $0.12 on top of $3.42. The calculator’s fulfillment row is labeled as including fuel. Confirm the live surcharge on your settlement — Amazon has sunset dates for temporary add-ons.
