Etsy Fee Structure Explained

Etsy charges multiple fees that can add up quickly. Here is a breakdown of every fee applied to a sale:

  • Listing Fee ($0.20): Charged when you create or renew a listing. Listings auto-renew every 4 months. Multi-quantity listings charge $0.20 per unit sold.
  • Transaction Fee (6.5%): Applied to the total order amount including any shipping charged to the buyer. This is Etsy's main revenue from sellers.
  • Payment Processing (3% + $0.25): Charged per transaction through Etsy Payments. Rate may vary slightly by country.
  • Offsite Ads (12% or 15%): If a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on Google, Facebook, or other platforms and purchases within 30 days, you pay 15% of the sale (or 12% if your shop earns $10K+/year). Shops earning over $10K annually cannot opt out. Fee is capped at $100 per order.

Interpret the output

Aim for 30%+ profit margin on Etsy.

After all fees, a healthy Etsy margin is 30-50%. Below 20% means your pricing is tight and any Offsite Ads hit could eliminate your profit entirely. Factor in your time and packaging costs too.
